Difference between revisions of "M20 Diamond T"

The M20 Diamond T was designed in 1941 as a heavy prime mover & cargo truck, also when combined with the M9 heavy trailer it was known as the M19 tank transporter. Several over variants including one with a lifting crane & a dump truck were also produced, with over 6,500 being made by the end of the war. They first saw use in 1942 with British forces during the North African campaign, where they proved invaluable at recovering damaged tanks, often while also under fire. They continued to be used throughout the war with Allied forces on all fronts, eventually being replaced by the M26 "Dragon Wagon" in 1945. After the war many were sold off to civilians where they front new life transporting heavy industrial parts & rescuing heavy vehicles as breakdown recovery trucks. Now days they have been replaced with newer vehicles but there are quite a few still in private collections that are in running condition & can bee seen at military & truck shows throughout Europe & America.
