In 1942 the British Air Ministry sent out a request for a plane specifically designed for ground-attack missions, Boulton Paul answered with their P.100 design. Using a pusher engine & a canard wing layout it give the pilot an excellent view of the battlefield & with the engine located at the rear of the plane the space could be used to placed a combination of 40mm & 20mm cannons giving it great hitting power.
